Description
Adventure Summary
The Frost-Throat Expanse is a frozen tundra where the ancient white dragon Kalvorik sleeps beneath a mile of ice. The village of Ice-Watch has survived here for six generations atop a geothermal spring, believing the dragon legend to be a comforting myth. Now the Bleak-Whisper creeps through the community—a malaise that steals memories. A mother forgets her child. A hunter forgets the path home. Each dawn, someone wakes a stranger in their own bed.
This pack details five locations across the Expanse, designed for a party of four 3rd-level characters rising to 5th by the final site. The natural arc leads from the village outward into the ice, then down to the vault where the dragon dreams.
The Twist: Kalvorik is not the enemy. A thought-eater from the Dark Tapestry has latched onto the dragon’s dreaming mind, siphoning memories from the living through the ancient frost giant wards. The real threat is the paranoia consuming Ice-Watch—neighbors accusing neighbors, a village tearing itself apart from within. The dragon is a victim, not a villain.
Background
Four centuries ago, the frost giant queen Jarl-Gyda wrestled Kalvorik into submission. Instead of killing it, her rune-carvers bound the dragon in an enchanted sleep beneath the ice, threading its hibernating life-force into the geothermal veins below. The Whisper-Stones were raised to contain the dragon’s dreaming mind; the Sunken Spire served as her watch-post. But the frost giant empire crumbled, the wards eroded, and a thought-eater drifted down from the Dark Tapestry to embed itself in Kalvorik’s dreamscape. The Bleak-Whisper is its feeding-trace.
