Adventure Summary

A 4–6 player campaign for characters of levels 5–10, spanning 6 sessions of 4 hours each. An unnatural storm has raged for three weeks around the isolated mountain monastery of the Celestial Path, cutting off the village of Stormcliff from the world. The party journeys up the treacherous Pilgrim’s Ascent, uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy, a bound primordial of air and lightning, and a desperate abbot determined to break the seal. The true treasure at the heart of the mountain is not gold or magic items—it is the Celestial Codex, a book of forbidden knowledge containing the true name of the primordial and the secret of binding and unbinding it. The campaign offers meaningful choices: will the heroes destroy the storm forever, re-seal the primordial in an eternal cycle, or broker a new peace that transforms the very mountain?

Background

Over five centuries ago, the storm primordial named Ga-Ram descended upon the region, bringing cataclysmic typhoons that shattered coastlines and drowned valleys. The sage-monk Seon-Mi, wielding the Celestial Codex—a divine tome of true names and binding rituals—tricked the primordial into a form of servitude and bound it within the heart of Mount Seongak. Seon-Mi founded the Monastery of the Celestial Path atop the binding circle, staffing it with disciples sworn to maintain the seals. Over generations, the monks forgot the true nature of their charge. The codex was locked away in a hidden archive, and the doctrine shifted to reverence: the primordial was re-imagined as a guardian spirit, and the storms its blessing.

Forty years ago, Master Yun rose to become Abbot. A prodigy in elemental magic, he delved into the forbidden archives and rediscovered the truth. Obsessed with the power of the primordial, he began subtle experiments to tap its energy. Three months ago, his arrogance triggered a violent response: a crack in the binding circle, and the endless storm was born. Now Yun believes the only way to stop the destruction is to fully release Ga-Ram, bargaining his own soul for control. Meanwhile, the storm grows wilder, spreading elemental chaos and drawing fortune-seekers who sense a great power ripe for the taking.

The village of Stormcliff, at the base of the mountain, suffers landslides, flooding, and attacks from enraged air elementals. A young acolyte named Jin fled the monastery, carrying fragments of truth. A mercenary named Kaelen arrived weeks ago, pretending to help but secretly planning to seize the primordial’s power for sale to the highest bidder. As the party arrives, the mountain trembles, and time is running out.
