Description
Adventure Summary
Level 5–7. A mining camp on the frozen tundra has unearthed a fist-sized crystalline artifact from a buried ruin above the lair of an ancient white dragon said to sleep beneath the glacier. Since its discovery, the camp has been trapped in a waking nightmare: distances stretch, voices come from empty snowfields, and trusted allies seem replaced by impostors. The miners beg for help slaying the “thing under the ice,” but the real danger is the artifact’s spreading panic, which is driving the camp toward betrayal, murder, and a disastrous attempt to crack the glacier open.
Background
The object, called the Pale Prism by the miners, was uncovered with a cache of pre-Drift relics. It resonates with buried psychic strata in the ice, projecting fear as quasi-real visions. The dragon below is real, but dormant; every act of violence, excavation, or explosive heat near the fissure risks waking it. The Prism’s effects resemble fear and illusion magic, but its worst power is social: it turns uncertainty into conviction.
