Description

Adventure Summary

A 4-6 hour adventure for 4-5 characters of 6th level. The characters enter a sand-buried tomb where an ancient pact is expiring at sunset. The desert folk believe the mummy pharaoh Nemet-Kha must be destroyed before he claims a living soul, but he is actually holding back an aboleth bound beneath the tomb.

Background

Long ago, Pharaoh Nemet-Kha bargained with a thing from the black water below the desert: the aboleth Zurathuun. In exchange for victory over his enemies, Nemet-Kha promised one royal heir every hundred years. When remorse took him, he betrayed the pact, mummified himself, and became the prison’s eternal warden. The pact expires tonight. If no heir is offered and the sealing rites fail, Zurathuun rises beneath the dunes.

The Hook

Sephra Vey, a desert guide, hires the party to escort Prince Tamir to the half-buried Tomb of Nemet-Kha. Tamir believes he must break his family’s curse by destroying the pharaoh’s mummy. Sephra quietly fears another truth: her grandmother’s journal says the pharaoh was not the curse’s source, but its jailer.
