As they investigate, they discover two rival factions—The Order of the Veil (a secret society seeking to preserve knowledge) and The Hollow Mnemosyne (a cult seeking to erase history)—are using the temple’s power to manipulate the town. The party must navigate deception, uncover the truth, and decide whether to destroy or save the temple before both factions claim its secrets.

Background

Long ago, the temple of Morrigen, goddess of memory, was a sanctuary where scholars and druids preserved knowledge. Over centuries, it became overgrown and abandoned, its walls inscribed with runes that once protected its secrets. The luminous fungi that now thrive here are a remnant of Morrigen’s magic. Recently, the village of Elderglen has experienced strange memory loss, with citizens forgetting their pasts and losing their sense of self. The temple’s ancient wards have weakened, allowing a hidden force to siphon memories into the fungi. Two factions now vie for control: the Order of the Veil, who seek to safeguard knowledge, and the Hollow Mnemosyne, who aim to erase history and reshape the world.

The Hook

The party is approached by Eldrin Thistle, a farmer whose wife has forgotten their life together. He shows them a glowing mushroom fragment that pulses with a strange light. “This came from the temple,” he says. “But the village is afraid to go there. Something is stealing our memories, and the temple holds the answer.” The party must decide whether to investigate, but they soon realize they’re being watched—and manipulated by unseen forces.
